This Annual Festival In Nepal Thanks Dogs For Being Our Friends. Why Aren’t We Doing The Same?

We say that dogs are human’s best friend all the time, but Nepal is taking it to a whole new level. They have an entire holiday that celebrates our friends the dogs. It’s happens during Diwali and is a sort of festival of lights celebrated each fall in India, Nepal and elsewhere in the region.

The festival is called Kukur Tihar and specifically thanks our furry friends for their loyalty and their friendship. During Kukur Tihar, people offer garlands, tika, and delicious food to dogs to pay tribute to them. The garlands are one of the highest signs of respect.

Enjoy these breathtaking images of the dogs being honored. We don’t know about you, but we want to bring this festival to every country too.
