Turkey Restricts Animal Testing Of Cosmetics
|Turkey has joined the ranks of the European Union, Isreal, Norway and India by introducing a ban on the sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals, according to The Daily Sabah.
Animal rights activists in Turkey can now heave a sigh of relief. The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Administration of Turkey added a new article to its new regulation regarding the cosmetics industry and banned any animal testing for cosmetic products that have already been introduced to the market. Moreover, the Health Ministry made Turkish tags obligatory for any cosmetic product sold in the country. According to the new regulation, companies have to list the ingredients of their products in detail and have to inform their customers with Turkish tags even if they keep their original logo and tag on the product.
The changes come into effect on 15 January 2016
