Indians Are Posting Selfies With Cows To Protest Their Slaughter

Kolkata-based trust Go Seva Parivar has started a social media trend called #SelfieWithGoMata to bring attention to their protest against cow slaughter in West Bengal.

Cow slaughter is banned in most Indian states. The trend began right after Diwali this year to have it banned in beef-consuming West Bengal, but it has started to gained traction now and people from all over India have participated.

The trust claims it is receiving thousands of selfies. Their Facebook album already has about 600.

“We started this great event from last year to create the general awareness that cow protection is not religious but scientific,” Lalit Agarwal, Go Seva Parivar spokesperson, told Business Standard.
